Washington Times: ‘Heaven’ Makes Front Page News
It doesn’t happen often but the Good News of the gospel, transformational life-giving stories, and even subjects like heaven make front-page news.

Such was the case for a story about author-evangelist Lee Strobel and his new book reported on by Mark A. Kellner of The Washington Times (SEE BELOW).
“I didn’t expect the release of my new book, The Case for Heaven, to be front-page news, but that’s where @washtimes put the story,” Strobel recently posted on Instagram along with an image from that day’s paper.
Could it be a sign of the times that subjects like heaven, hell, and eternity are springing up in secular media?
The headline for the online version of Kellner’s article reads: Can heaven wait? Best-selling author says ‘no’
“As a Christian, I know, biblically, that when I close my eyes in this world, I’ll open them in the next and [be in] God’s presence,” Strobel was quoted as saying while explaining his reason for writing The Case for Heaven. But I’m a journalist with a law background. So I tend still to be a skeptic about some things and, and I thought, ‘How do I know that that’s really consistent with science, with reason and with rationality?’”
Strobel’s book, The Case for Christ, has sold over 5 million copies and was made into a movie of the same name. In regards to Strobel’s new book, Kellner writes: “His quest for answers [about heaven] led him to interviews with experts such as Sharon Dirckx, who earned a doctorate in brain imaging from the University of Cambridge, New Testament scholar Scott McKnight and philosopher Paul Copan.”
Atheist-turned-Christian Lee Strobel, the former award-winning legal editor of The Chicago Tribune, is a New York Times best-selling author of more than forty books and curricula. As stated on his website: After probing the evidence for Jesus for nearly two years, Lee became a Christian in 1981. He subsequently became a teaching pastor at three of America’s largest churches and hosted the national network TV program Faith Under Fire. In addition, he taught First Amendment law at Roosevelt University and was Professor of Christian Thought at Houston Baptist University.

Former newspaper reporter Lee Strobel hopes to see his dog — and have a byline — in heaven.

The 69-year-old bestselling author next week will release “The Case for Heaven,” a book that makes the evangelical Christian case for an afterlife while citing those who have had near-death experiences. He also will tell the story of his own brush with eternity.
Mr. Strobel was at one time an atheist, but his life changed after his wife, Leslie, became a Christian believer and challenged his complacency. Now, he has a string of books and videos defending the faith. Each attacks its subject with the same dogged approach that marked his news reporting.
“The Case for Heaven,” which is expected to launch at a reception at the Museum of the Bible in the District of Columbia, may be his last book…
